Former Minnesota Vikings QB Randall Cunningham’s 2 1/2 year old son drowned yesterday. Christian Cunningham was found floating in a hot tub on Cunningham’s property. Randall Cunningham was not at home at the time of the incident. Authorites are investigating but the drowning appears to be an accident at this point.

Cunningham spent three years with the Minnesota Vikings, leading the Vikings to a 15-1 record and an appearance in the NFC Championship game in the 1998 season.

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson might be a holdout for training camp and the Vikings seem to be laying the ground work for just that possibility. Maybe there isn’t an underlying an issue with Peterson, it seems that Mediatakeout.com has found out that his fiance posed for Playboy. And judging by the photos provided, I think I’d skip camp as well.I just hope Adrian doesn’t fumble her.

Minnesota marks Mitchell

The Minnesota Vikings have claimed WR Marko Mitchell off waivers. Mitchell has made his way around the league this off season via the waiver wire. Originally released by the Washington Redskins, he was claimed by the Detroit Lions. After a few weeks with the Lions, he was released and the Vikings decided to give him a tryout.

Mitchell, for some reason can’t seem to stick with a team despite his physical size and speed. The Redskins are in dire need of receivers so it’s puzzling as to why he was released prior to training camp.

Mitchell’s highlight reel from his days at the University of Nevada are impressive enough, you’d think he’d land with a squad in the league.

Two More Years of Favre?

Could Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre not only return for 2010 but 2011? According to the Pioneer Press, in the Don’t Print that Section, the Press states that some unnamed people have said that not only will Favre return in 2010 but 2011 because his return would make it more difficult for Colts QB Peyton Manning to break Favre’s records. You have to be leery of those unnamed “people”.

In the meantime, fans make their own plea for Favre’s return. Minnesota. Great for Grandpas. I would have thought they’d have taken the Walleye tack.

The same column notes that by drafting RB Toby Gerhart and acquiring RB Ryan Moats, the Vikings could be preparing for an Adrian Peterson holdout. I think the Vikings drafted Gerhart as a replacement and upgrade over departed RB Chester Taylor but the signing of Ryan Moats did send up a red flag.

Maybe. Definately Maybe.

It’s official. Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre is maybe, quite possibly, perhaps going to play in 2010. Al Jones in the Sun Herald of Biloxi Mississippi said it’s possible. Jones spent some time with Favre as he’s rehabbing his ankle. Favre told Jones, “I would love to go beat the Saints, I want to win every game I play.”

It would be Favre’s 20th season in the NFL, and coming of his best statistical year of his career, it’s obvious he can still play and Favre said as much to Jones. “I know I can still play at a high level. Last year was a great year, but it could have been better. When Childress came to my house a few weeks ago, he told me to take my time.”

So, the Favre watch continues, but I fully expect him to make his way to Minnesota somewhere around the middle of August and be under center in 2010.
