There is no doubt that the Minnesota Vikings want a new stadium, and they are playing every card they can to get one. However, during an online chat at Vikings.com this afternoon, a Vikings employee confirmed that the Minnesota Vikings have been contacted by two different sets of interests regarding relocation of the team to Los Angeles.

Minnesota Vikings Vice Preisdent of Stadium Development and Public Affairs Lester Bagley confirmed that the organization has been contacted about the possibility of relocation but told fans in the live chat that the Vikings want to exercise every option they can to keep the organization in Minnesota. Bagley noted that the Vikings were contacted by Ed Roski and another group led by Tim Leiweke to discuss possible relocation.

This will be the first of many attempts by the Vikings to play their hand in order to get the best possible deal that they can, whether it be moving the team to Los Angeles or getting a new stadium in Minnesota. They will try to leverage the fan base to lobby for a new stadium to keep the organization in Minnesota and owners employ these sorts of tactics all the time when in search of a new stadium.

The groups associated with Ed Roski and Tim Leweke will explore their best options as well, and will most likely be contacting teams in Jacksonville, Buffalo and St Louis as well to see the best sort of deal they can work out.

Is Bill Parcells joining the Minnesota Vikings a reality or fantasy?

Is Bill Parcells joining the Minnesota Vikings a reality or fantasy? Charley Walters of the Pioneer Press threw out the idea of Parcells being hired by the Minnesota Vikings with the Vikings making a push for a new stadium. Yes, I realize that all sorts of names have been tossed around as rumors possibly linked to the Minnesota Vikings. Tony Dungy, Jon Gruden and now Bill Parcells.

Would Parcells be a good fit for Minnesota? It’s unknown what capacity Parcells would join the Vikings, most likely not on the sidelines. He would command a serious salary. There would likely be serious purging of players when he arrives, that is his trademark with whatever team he takes over. If Leslie Frazier remains as head coach and the Vikings hire Parcells in the capacity he was associated with the Miami Dolphins could the pair c0-exist?

There is no question that Parcells has a knack for turning franchises around. His track record is impressive. He has a very good eye for judging talent. He commands respect from the players, something which has been lacking with the Vikings for a few years. But would this just be a big name hire by the franchise in order to show legislators that the Vikings are trying to be committed to winning in order to move a stadium deal along?

At the end of the day, I believe if Frazier can win three of the remaining games on the schedule, that he’ll get another chance as head coach next season and while the Parcells name might be thrown about in discussions right now, him being hired by the Vikings is unrealistic.

Does Brett Favre return to the Minnesota Vikings in 2011?

Yeah, yeah, we’ve all heard the story that this will be Brett Favre’s last season in the NFL, but does he return to the Vikings in 2011? You have to ask the question because there is always that possibility and here is how I see it shaping up. Do I think he should return, no, however I think his return could be possible and this is why.

Current Vikings QB situation- Basically bleak. Perhaps the most able quarterback on the roster was shipped out of town, Sage Rosenfels and simply given to the New York Giants in exchange for a fifth round pick. Tarvaris Jackson will be a free agent after this season. Joe Webb is no where near being ready, if ever, to become a starting quarterback.

Potential Lockout- The lack of a new Collective Bargaining Agreement and the threat of an owner’s lockout have to weigh heavily on the decisions the Vikings make. There can be no free agency period until a new CBA is agreed upon. If talks drag on between the players union and the owners until July or later, Favre doesn’t show up to camp until two weeks before the season starts anyway.

Leslie Frazier, the anti-Brad Childress- Brett Favre never got along with former head coach Brad Childress, it was a relationship based on tolerance. Favre likes Frazier and respects him, something he didn’t do with Childress. I think if Frazier wants Favre to come back in 2011, there will be a decision made sooner rather than later. Favre has been running the show in Minnesota for too long.20 years in the league or not, he needs a coach to put him in his place and Frazier could be the man to do that.

Does Brett Favre return to the Minnesota Vikings in 2011? I hope not, but I could see it as a realistic possibility, especially with the chance of a very truncated pre-season and free agency period. The Vikings have no other serious options at quarterback, Favre knows the system and would have to come back at a greatly reduced salary, for one last year…………….

Leslie Frazier era begins for the Minnesota Vikings

It might have been a little too late, but the Leslie Frazier era has begun in Minnesota as the Minnesota Vikings won their first road game in over a year against the Washington Vikings on Sunday 17-13. It wasn’t the Vikings most stellar offensive performance, but in a season filled with massive disappointment, it was a win.

Brett Favre played his first game this season which he didn’t turn the ball over. In a game which saw the Vikings lose their other superstar, RB Adrian Peterson, the 4-7 Vikings got production out of rookie RB Toby Gerhart. Gerhart came in for Peterson, who suffered an ankle injury, and rushed for 76 yards and a score.

Yes, it was a win over a injury riddled Washington Redskins team, but in a season where wins have been precious, it was a win. There are 5 weeks remaining in the regular season, and those five weeks and the Vikings performance on the field will dictate whether or not Leslie Frazier should remain as head coach heading into the 2011 season.

Minnesota Vikings to face off against injury riddled Redskins

Let the Leslie Frazier era begin for the Minnesota Vikings, and in his first game as head coach, the Vikings will take on the injury riddled Washington Redskins. Both sides of the ball have suffered massive hits due to injuries this season for the Redskins.

On offense, the running back position has been one of the hardest position to get any consistent play from because it’s been nearly impossible for the Redskins to keep any running back healthy. Veteran RB Clinton Portis has made his way on to the injured reserve list with a groin injury. Ryan Torain had seen some action as the Redskins starter for several games this season, but is unlikely to play this afternoon while rehabbing from a hamstring injury. Rookie Keiland Williams should be the Redskins starter this week.

Last night the Redskins released veteran WR Joey Galloway.

On defense, S LeRon Landry has been ruled out for this afternoon’s game as well. Landry has an Achilles injury.

Washington has 10 players listed as questionable as well including CB Carlos Rogers, who missed last weeks game.

The Redskins injuries have contributed to their on and off play on the field, but they have really struggled on defense this season, surrendering the most yards of any team in the NFL.

I would expect to see the Vikings use a heavy dose of Adrian Peterson and while the Vikings are underdogs this weekend, I like the Vikings chances to get Leslie Frazier his first win this week.
