The Minnesota Vikings shocked the sports world by selecting Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder with the 12th overall pick in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft after Jake Locker and Blaine Gabbert were taken in the top 10. Despite Selecting Christian Ponder, Minnesota Vikings Still Expected to Land Donovan McNabb
Now that the Brett Favre era has officially come to an end, one of the biggest needs this offseason for the Minnesota Vikings was the quarterback position. The Vikings selected Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder with the 12th pick of the 2011 NFL Draft, but it appears they still have plans to try and bringing another quarterback on board for next season–Donovan McNabb. The Minnesota Vikings were expected to strongly consider a quarterback in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft–especially if Blaine Gabbert or Jake Locker were still on the board. With both players being selected in the top 10, the Vikings made a surprise move at No. 12 by drafting Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder–who many expected to be taken in the second round.
